Baby You're a Firework!!

We spent our 4th of July in the summer heat! We attended the Urbandale Parade in the morning, the carnival in the afternoon and the fireworks in the evening.

Kadance tired to stay cool in the shade before the parade started.

 It is hard to see in the pictures but Kadance made a friend at the fireworks.  Olivia gave her the glow in the dark necklace and they did sparklers together.

Summer 2011 so far.....

Kadance has learned to ride on two wheels!!

This took much practice and a few bandaids but we made it!

This year Kadance was able to touch in the pool at Laura's.

She is even becoming a bit more brave in the water.

We just finished up a week at swimming lessons at the Ankeny pool.

Kadance absolutely loved it, can't wait for next year already.

Kadance gets to spend her Tuesdays with her cousin Cate and Aunt Kristy!

Early Edition

Kristy's due date for BGBriles was March 19, I personally was hoping she would go early while Kadance and I were on spring break, well early we got.  Cate Ryan Briles was born March 1, at 11:14am. She was 5lb 12oz and 18 3/4 inches long. Kristy and Chad allowed me to be in the room while my niece was born. It was an amazing experinence and I glad I will have that special bond with the 3 of them.
Of course there are hundreds of photos but here are just a few.

On March 1, friends of ours, Ryan & Lisa Kirkpatrick, also welcome a baby boy, Jude Davidson, into their family.  Kristy and Lisa shared a Dr. and babies were born within 2 hours of each other.

Kadance Birthday Party, Round 2

Kadances' birthday is January 13, just less than 10 days from Christmas, which makes it hard to get her MORE stuff since she has barely broken open the toys she just received.  So we decided to be a bit more practical.  She has begun to like music her favorite artist including, Miley Cyrus aka Hannah Montana, Taylor Swift, and off course our house has been struck with Bieber Fever!!!

Pixos??? Apparently the must have item in Kindergarten this year!

And  a nice home-made cake to add to the collection of Hello Kitty cake from the prior party!!

Baby, Baby, Baby Ohh

 I hosted a baby shower for my sister, Kristy, in January to welcome the arrival of "BGBriles." With the help of her friends and family it was a complete success. We had potato soup, chicken quesadilla soup, ham & turkey sandwiches, a cheesecake bar, and a party is not complete without Lois' punch. I had a lot of fun putting this together.

Kadance Turns 6 - Hello Kitty Style

For Kadance's 6th birthday we decided to have some of her friends join her to help her celebrate. She told me many times that she wanted it to be Hello Kitty themed so we went all out.

From the invites to the cake to the pinata to the party favors Hello Kitty was in the house or church, we held it in the student center at our church, it already has a play place what more could a kid ask for.

To top the great day, Kadance made sure she told us how she was so thankful to Kelly and I for having the party for her, it even made it into her evening meal prayer.
