"Guts"

This year was the first year that Kadance really wanted to help carve pumpkins, she was excited about pulling out the "guts." By the end of the night we had a Sponge Bob, Tigerhawk and a spider carved into our pumpkins. Oh yeah and of course Jack helped.

White Paint Project #2

After the Hutch turned out so great, I had the idea to paint the fireplace as well. In my dream world all my cabinets and trim would be white, but later down the road I will have my dream home but for now I have white Hutch and Fireplace

My Hutch Project

After seeing this idea on a blog that I follow, I could not wait steal the look and complete the project myself. I found this on craigslist for $60
Here are some of the steps to the transformation.
Kelly got a new sander, and we stripped it down.

We used a gripper paint to cover,

Then painted 2 coats of untinted white semi gloss.
Replaced all the hardware
Kelly added lighting to the top

And finished! We covered the back with a textured wall paper and painted it gray.
I am still trying to figure to decide what to put in it. Kelly did alot of the work
and it looks great, it also inspired us to do another project.....

Responsibility

Now that Kadance is in Kindergarten, we thought that it was time for her to start doing some simple chores and to be rewarded for them.  We also thought while we were at it we could reward and discpline her for her good and bad behaviors.  We wrote up a BIG contract to refer to, it has been fun and is a good teaching experience for her.

Airplanes

Kadance got her 1st airplane ride from my friend Sara, who is a pilot.
She was very excited for the idea and did a good job up in the plane, but I think she
was a little unsure about the experience.  It was also Kelly and I first time up with Sara. We
had a great time. Thanks Sara!!

My Sweet Husband

Kelly sent me these beautiful flowers on my birthday.
He picked them out himself, and they are still alive.
He is just the best!

Kadance our Little Cheerleader

For The Ballard Bomber season opener, Kadance got to be on the Junior Cheer Squad. She was a bit shy to start out but she did a great job for a hundred people staring at her.  With her smile and charm I could see this activity in her future.

1st Day of School

Kadance started Kindergarten at Ballard West on August 19. She has been ready to be at school for quite some time now, she was overwhelmed with excitement on the first day. We went to orientation with her a couple nights before school started, met her teacher Mrs. Campbell, dropped of school supplies, and got to see her classroom.

With her Hannah Montana backpack of course, after all that is who she is going to be when she grows up!
And a few of her fans!

Beef Jerky

For Kelly's birthday this year he received a food dehydrator. After much trial and error he has perfected (in my eyes) his beef jerky.  It is comparable to the store brands you can buy and much cheaper.  It is great to be able to take a bag on the go!

Todd's Homecoming!

We had the priviledge to pick up Todd from the airport after 7 months of training for the Air Force.  He surprised his family so we stored him at our house over night until the party.  Kadance made a sign for his arrival at the airport.  She was super excited, it was her first time at the airport and way after her bed time.

We are so proud of Todd and the sacrifices he and every other Soldier make!

Worlds of Fun!!

We headed off to KC in the RV and stayed right at the campsite. From site you could watch and hear the Mamba at all times, Kadance wanted that to be her first ride. Needless to say, she didn't enjoy it, however the look on her face was priceless!

These were a little more her style!

And of course we visited Snoopy, Charlie Brown, and Friends.

Summer vacation with Kadance

We had a week long vacation with Kadance in July and filled every possible moment with the Science Center, the Historical Building, Incredibles Pizza, Despicable Me movie 3D, and of course Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun.  We decided it would be fun to drive an RV down to KC and "camp out" in the RV. It was quite the experience.

3D Nerds!

4th of July Chicago style pt 1

Kelly and I realized on Saturday July 2nd, that it was a 3 day weekend and we had no plans which was rare, so we found a sitter for the dog and headed out. We stopped in Williamsburgs and did a little outlet shopping and then headed to the BIG City! Here are some of the pics...
Kelly was hand selected for a street show. We have videos, it was great.
Closet we got to the top of the Sears tower.
Rode the L just for the experience.
